COPMANTHORPE’S MAIN SPORTS HUB

 The Sports Hall on the Recreation Centre provides a variety of fitness classes, sporting activities, and kids sport for the village and all surrounding areas. Renovation works to the sports hall have been completed in 2023 which have included new flooring, acoustic sound panelling throughout, and brand new equipment for a wide range of sporting activities.


WHAT’S ON - FITNESS

NEW FOR OCTOBER 2025 - We welcome Lucy at Loosen Up Fitness to our hall for weekly Pilates sessions every Wednesday 11:15 - 12:15. Pilates is a low impact exercise method that develops strength, flexibility, and balance, perfect for any age and ability. All you need to bring is a mat! With over 7 years experience of personal training, Julie is an expert in helping people achieve their fitness goals in a safe and effective way. Move it or Lose it! is aimed at ages 60+ and for people who are looking for low impact exercise classes. Building up fitness in a supportive environment, Natalie’s classes are perfect for improving confidence & fitness levels in a friendly and social environment. Options for exercises to be performed seated, with chair support, or standing. Sessions run Tuesdays from 9:30AM. WHAT’S ON - RACKET SPORTS

Established at The Rec in May 2023, Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide and this has certainly proved in the rise in popularity of our sessions in Copmanthorpe. Combining elements of Tennis, Badminton & Table Tennis, this sport offers low-impact sporting with a friendly and social focus. Sessions are £2.50 per person and currently 6 sessions a week. Pickleball

Our weekly Table Tennis session is perfect for anybody who is looking to learn a new sport, upkeep current skills, or revisit an old sport that you once enjoyed. With all equipment provided on site, you can simply turn up and play. Sessions are every Saturday from 10:30 - 12:30 for usual practice, and Thursdays 13:00 - 15:00 for U3A Table Tennis. The Rec serves as the winter training & match hub for Copmanthorpe Badminton Club. With a mixed team and a men’s team under their belt, they provide a great learning space for the sport in a fun and social setting. Budo-Kan-Karate-Do is a style of Karate which is associated with the Zenshin Ryu Federtion. Sessions run every Monday evening for all ages and holds a huge sense of community within the group. Looking for a local Dance class in the village? Look no further than Perform with Emma Bassett, providing Dance sessions for the younger years every Monday 15:15 - 16:30.
